Description:

We all harbor beasts who hunger from the inside, trapped within a prison of flesh as we claw at the walls of our humanity.★★ NOTE FROM THE SICK AND TWISTED AUTHOR ★★ Hi, hello, it’s me, the author of the Preternatural Chronicles, Hunter Blain. First I wanted to say thank you for reading the series so far, and keeping John alive in the theaters of your mind. Even though my best friend is gone, he is not forgotten because of awesome fans like you. Pause for dramatic effect. Nailed it! Second, I wanted to do a little introduction to the next book you are about to read, which was written as a fun one-off in the universe of the Preternatural Chronicles, until things changed forever! Where the rest of the series has a plethora of humor, book 3.5, Moonlight Equilibrium, is a more serious, gritty take that could best be described as a horror thriller. It also takes place alongside book 4, "Mouth of Madness." The truth is, book 3.5 was supposed to be a one off that was a fun new perspective on the universe I had built. But damn it! Things that happen in this story do make a substantial impact later on in John’s books. So I highly recommend you read the relatively short novel (if you haven't already) just to get that dopamine release when that thing happens later in the series, and you’re all like, Hey! I understand that reference! Plus, it’s an omnibus, so it’s basically a free book added in. To further elaborate, I’ll give a tad bit more context. As with the stylings of Deadpool, when John and friends, say, cut a bad guy in half, it’s usually more action oriented with humor sprinkled about like hot sauce packets at Taco Bell. Or maybe toilet paper at a Taco Bell. You decide. But Moonlight Equilibrium is more visceral, and told from the point of view of poor Jose instead of from our beloved preternatural characters. Where John taking out a bad guy might have some laughs in the main story line, Jose might not find it funny when he watches as a twelve foot tall, bipedal werewolf rips and tears apart the people around him. To conclude, if you have a strong stomach, and aren’t afraid of an action oriented horror novel, I think you’ll really enjoy watching our boy, Depweg, unleashing hell—much to poor Jose’s dismay. Teehee. On the flip side, IF this style of book is not your thing, feel free to skip to the next book, because I will put a recap before the events of Moonlight Equilibrium are brought into the main story. So sit back, relax, and be prepared to look at the fan-favorite Jonathan Depweg in a new light…enjoy. ★ Insert evil laugh while twirling the ends of my mustache ★ Jose had made the unfortunate decision to work with the cartel under the guise of providing a better life for his loving wife, five-year-old son, and newborn daughter. All too late, Jose learns that we are free to make any decision in life that we want, but it’s the consequences we cannot avoid. An eerie howl reminiscent of a haunted train pierces the night, signifying that the hunt has begun… Feel the pull of the Moonlight Equilibrium and get lost in a visceral world of unrelenting terror, exquisitely detailed gore, and the existential sorrow of regret.
